# Typing Castle

> The typing game kids actually want to replay, and that genuinely teaches them to type.

Typing Castle is a fast, kid-safe typing game. Every round drops you into one of the castle's
stories, one play you're the castle scribe with post birds streaming in carrying letters to
copy, the next you're a hungry baby dragon snagging passing food carts with your tongue, and
you keep up by **typing the word** on each delivery before it slips past. The faster and more
accurately you type, the longer you last; miss three and the round is over. It's free, there
are no ads, no trackers, and no sign-up to play.

## Why it works when drill apps don't

Most typing tools force a trade-off. Lesson apps teach real technique but are dull, so kids quit.
Typing *games* are fun but reward the speed you already have instead of building it. Typing Castle is
designed to live in the gap between them:

- **The practice is the play.** Typing accurately *is* how you win, not a chore wrapped around a
game. Every keystroke is real practice.
- **It adapts to each player.** Deliveries get faster and words get trickier as a player
improves, so a beginner and a fast typist both stay in the sweet spot where learning happens.
- **Kids choose to replay it.** The thing that makes touch typing stick is repetition, and the
surest way to get repetition is a game a kid opens on their own.

## Built safe, on purpose

Safety here is architectural, not a promise on a page:

- **No ads. No ad-tech. No cross-site trackers.** The only third-party we load is Fathom, a
cookieless, privacy-first analytics tool that just counts visits; a strict security policy makes
every other off-origin request fail loudly, so nothing can quietly load an ad pixel or a
  data-broker beacon.
- **No account, no email, no birthday** to play the free game. Nothing personal is collected, so
  there is nothing to leak.
- **No chat, no strangers.** There is no way for anyone to message a child.

This is why Typing Castle is **COPPA-clean by design**: a child's typing data is only ever saved
*after* a parent sets up the optional Family plan.

## For homeschool families

Typing Castle is built first for families teaching at home, where a parent wants real typing skill,
real visibility into progress, and none of the ad-filled clutter. The optional **Family plan**
adds:

- **Unlimited play**, no daily cap.
- **A progress dashboard**, each child's speed and accuracy over time, and exactly which keys and
  letter-pairs slow them down.
- **An AI typing coach**, friendly, specific tips based on how your child really types, not
  generic advice.
- **A private family leaderboard**, just your household.

The game is free, runs in your browser, and needs nothing but a keyboard. Pick a handle and jump
in, and if you want the dashboard and coach, the Family plan is there when you're ready.
