Privacy Policy
Short and plain, because our privacy story is simple: when you just play, we collect nothing that identifies you. Last updated: 24 July 2026.
Typing Castle is a browser typing game. This page explains what we collect and why. It is written so kids and parents can read it, and it is not a substitute for legal advice.
The free game
When you play for free, we save only two things: the handle you choose for the leaderboard (please do not use your real name) and your score.
To keep the leaderboard fair, your keystrokes are sent to our server so it can replay your game and confirm the score is real. They are used for that one check and then discarded. They are never stored.
Once a day, on your last free play, we may show you an AI coach recap: a short, encouraging tip about how you typed that day. To write it, the timings of your keystrokes and which keys you missed (never your handle, and never anything you typed as text) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, purely to generate that one tip. No name or account is attached, we do not store them, and Anthropic does not use them to train its models.
We do not collect your name, email, address, phone, birthday, or location. We set no cookies, use no advertising IDs, and run no ad or social trackers. There is no account and no sign-up to play.
Analytics
Every page, including the game, uses Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first tool, so we can see roughly how many people visit and play. It sets no cookies, does not profile you or track you across other sites, honors "Do Not Track," briefly processes then discards IP addresses, and stores no personal information about you. It is the only third-party on the site; there are no advertising or social trackers anywhere.
Children (COPPA)
The free game is built so there is nothing personal to collect from a child, which means there is nothing to consent to. The privacy-first analytics we use (Fathom) sets no cookies, builds no profile, and discards the IP, so it collects no personal information from a child and relies on COPPA's support-for-internal-operations basis rather than parental consent. The once-a-day AI coach recap a free player may see is generated the same way: only that day's keystroke timings and missed keys are sent to Anthropic to write one tip, with no name or identifier attached and nothing stored afterward. We only save a child's typing information after a parent creates and pays for the Family plan. That subscription is how a verifiable adult gives consent. The information we then keep (typing speed, accuracy, and which keys are missed) powers that family's progress dashboard and coaching tips. To write a coaching tip after a game, or a progress note when a parent asks for one, a child's chosen display name and their typing information (key timings, which keys are missed, and a summary of recent speed and accuracy over time, never free text they wrote) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, purely to generate that tip or note; Anthropic does not use it to train its models. We never sell your data, never share it for advertising, and use it only to run your family's dashboard and coach.
Keeping and deleting data
- A parent can delete a child's saved data at any time from the dashboard.
- We keep data only as long as we need it to provide the feature it is for.
